daapd scans a directory for mp3 files and makes them available via the Apple proprietary protocol DAAP. DAAP clients, such as iTunes, can browse the directory and retrieve individual files, either by streaming or by downloading them. I suggest the new-misc herd.

The dependicy on Howl (Bug 33943) is actually optional. To let daapd use howl add "zeroconf" to your USE flags. Also, I ment to say I suggest the "net-misc" herd.
