!!! Digest verification failed:
!!! /usr/packages/mail-client/mutt-1.5.20-r10.tbz2
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
!!! Got: 648692
!!! Expected: 1498284
File renamed to '/usr/packages/mail-client/mutt-1.5.20-r10.tbz2._checksum_failure_.Oieucz'

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
These are local systems, so I think you cannot reproduce this. You have to setup a binpackage host per http, compile some packages on the source host and distribute them to the targets.
Actual Results:
I don't have any special setups here and this once worked. One day it stopped working. I can't remeber even when this was.
I think I had such errors in the past, but all I had to do cleanup some cache files.

The problem is, that there is something wrong with the Digest and Filesize verification. When I for example take checksum_failure file and mv it to the original file:

mv mutt-1.5.20-r10.tbz2*_checksum_fail* mutt-1.5.20-r10.tbz2

then an emerge mutt works afterwards.

Comment 3 Ingo Krabbe 2010-10-09 05:51:16 UTC
BTW: the 404 from the db2 package host comes from removing all packages, which is my current experiment now, and a emerge -e world.

What's now happened though is that there are no more All/ packages, which was where the http://db2/portage-packages/ pointed to.

I think thats how portage binhosts had to be configured. Did that change? Maybe thats the error then!

Actually this is the duplicate of this bug with the same resolution:

For best information see comment #2 of bug#303211. Thats exactly what happened here.
