Description Paulo da Silva 2010-08-19 18:03:13 UTC
I migrated to sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.34-r5 because of the problem CVE-2010-2240 that seems to be fixed in this version.

Now I found the same situation as reported here for k 2.6.35:
http://www.spinics.net/lists/dm-devel/msg13509.html
There is a patch here:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=d7824370e26325c881b665350ce64fb0a4fde24a

LVM volumes seem to be fine but I don't know if there are any (bad) consequencies from this error.

Is it possible to backport the fix? Is this fix included in the gentoo-sources-2.6.35 kernels?

Thanks

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compile the kernel,
2. Activate a LVM volume.

I applied the patch to 2.6.34-r5 and it seems to work so far. The error messages went away.

Thanks for the good bug report. I'll get to this in the next few days.
Comment 3 Mike Pagano gentoo-dev 2010-08-20 20:32:41 UTC
InSVN for both .34 and .35, will be released in next gentoo-sources release of those two kernel versions.

Comment 4 Mike Pagano gentoo-dev 2010-08-31 17:01:06 UTC
Included in latest releases of 34 and 35 of gentoo-sources
