This is archive of web2c directory (as message suggest it may help to debug issue): theor.ran.gpi.ru/web2c.tar.gz

Well, probably it is something with my chroot, but with USE="X Xaw3d iconv tk unicode -doc -motif -neXt" it fails to build too. Hm... @tex do you have any ideas what's going on here? I don't see pdfetex anywhere inside chroot (neither in ptex nor in the system. What should provided it?

ptex itself; your error seems to be:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
! You are attempting to make a LaTeX format from a source file
! That is more than five years old.
!
! If you enter <return> to scroll past this message then the format
! will be built, but please consider obtaining newer source files
! before continuing to build LaTeX.

But what can I do with this error? chroot is up to date and date is set correctly...

its not an error but a warning and then you get that the format 'possibly failed' to build; either patch the warning out or lastrite ptex
Comment 8 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-12 05:52:07 UTC
Um, there is ptexlive, that is texlive based version of Japanese tex from the same author: http://tutimura.ath.cx/ptexlive/?FrontPage But unfortunately I'm unable even to read what's written on that page and I'm not that familiar with tex package to package it without instructions... Well... We need Japanese developer )
Comment 9 Luke-Jr 2010-07-02 18:57:36 UTC
2009 isn't over 5 years old... :/

"me too"
Comment 10 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-07-03 23:36:45 UTC
please lastrite ptex, nothing usable left in tree
Comment 11 Luke-Jr 2010-07-03 23:38:13 UTC
ptex is an indirect dependency of kopete[latex]

remove date check

Attached is a patch that removes the warning. ptex seems to build fine with it applied.
Comment 13 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-07-01 11:34:19 UTC
Patch applied. Thanks
