Description Mehmet Giritli 2010-05-03 19:00:23 UTC
I am using stable gnome-2.26 but after the removal of gnome-power-manager-2.26 from the tree, I decided to try upgrade g-p-m 2.28 by unmasking it and its deps. After the upgrade (not the entire gnome but only g-p-m), I am no longer provided the options at the shutdown window to suspend or hibernate. Only restart and shutdown options are given.

However, in the power prefs window, I still have those options as available actions, for example to suspend when i close the lid...And they all work.

Apparently not. I have:

ls -l /var/lib/ | grep PolicyKit
drwxrwx--- 2 root polkituser 4096 May 2 11:42 PolicyKit
drwxr-xr-x 2 polkituser root 4096 May 2 10:44 PolicyKit-public

I read it. This is not about the pm tray icon (in which I have suspend option) but the contents of the shutdown window from the gnome menu.

Also, I have the consolekit up and running...

OK, I will edit the summary to clarify it a bit more ;-)

Regarding the issue you are reporting... I cannot reproduce it on my system running gnome 2.28 :-/ (hibernate option is offered to me)

Are you running it on a full Gnome 2.28 system? If you are mixing it with Gnome 2.26, you could maybe wait for bug 314899

no, it is only g-p-m 2.28 and its deps, the rest of gnome is still 2.26. Will wait for stabilisation and report back to here...

OK, good luck!
Comment 10 Mehmet Giritli 2010-05-04 21:56:00 UTC
ok, complete gnome update fixed it. Apparently there is something else in there that needs to be updated when updating g-p-m...
