After quite a decent period of existance in the Portage tree, wouldn't it slowly be time to see if TeX Live 2009 can be deemed as stable?
why not but we'll need to sort out the bugs first
(In reply to comment #1) > why not but we'll need to sort out the bugs first Wouldn't have it any other way ;) BTW, thank you guys for maintaining TeX (and ConTeXt).
(In reply to comment #1) > why not but we'll need to sort out the bugs first > unless someone is willing to backport the libpng14 fixes to 2008, we pretty much need this now.
Here's my 2ct: bug 303067: dev-texlive/texlive-context, buggy context Not sure how much we can do here except wait for 2010. I tried to patch in newer files from tl-2009 and replace context with even newer, but this just led to more breakage. Non-trivial problem bug 304551: dev-texlive/texlive-latex{,recommended}: caption, hyperref conflict Not a showstopper I'd say. bug 307223: dev-texlive/texlive-context, simplefonts needs newer context see above comments for bug 303067 bug 309997: dev-texlive/texlive-fontsextra, world writable files Could be solved quick'n'dirty by a brute-force workaround in src_install (go over files in image and fix permissions) bug 310039: dev-texlive/texlive-latexextra, world writeable files see above comments for bug 309997 bug 312009: app-text/texlive-core-2009-r1, XeTeX config file dvipdfmx.cfg warning Can be solved according to the bug report by adding dvipdfmx-20100328-r1 to RDEPEND. With this in mind, I'd suggest * copying app-text/texlive-2009 to 2009-r1, and removing the context useflag from -2009 * applying above "hotfixes" * requesting stabilization of app-text/texlive-2009 (i.e. tl-09 without context) What do you think?

I'd rather go with TeX Live 2010 which will be in the tree today (masked though)
