Please stabilize sys-apps/portage-2.1.8.3 (bug 307597 tracks bugs fixed since 2.1.7.x).
This version has the python3 useflag which can not be enabled on a stable x86 system, as python3 is not stable. Shall that useflag be masked for now?

Yes, I forgot about that. It's masked in profiles/base/package.use.mask now: # Zac Medico <zmedico@gentoo.org> (9 Apr 2010) # Mask python3 for stable portage until python-3.x is marked stable. =sys-apps/portage-2.1.8* python3
when using the current stable 'equery' (from gentoolkit-0.2.4.6.1) with this version of portage it throws /usr/lib/portage/pym/portage/util/__init__.py:1121: DeprecationWarning: The 'myroot' parameter for portage.config.getvirtuals() is deprecated result = lazy_item.func(*pargs, **kwargs) Shall we stabilize a newer version of gentoolkit too?
(In reply to comment #3) > Shall we stabilize a newer version of gentoolkit too? I've just committed gentoolkit-0.2.4.6.1-r1 with a trivial patch and stable keywords.

Ok, great. Everything else looks fine here now. I have been using this new version in my x86 arch-testing. Good to go x86 from my side.
