Tested on x86: Useflags all good, Several rdeps tested: net-p2p/ktorrent cannot be build if taglib is installed with USE="static-libs", a useflag dependency should be added to ktorrent: Linking CXX shared module ../../lib/ktmediaplayerplugin.so /usr/lib/libtag.a(id3v2frame.cpp.o): In function `TagLib::ID3v2::Frame::fieldData(TagLib::ByteVector const&) const': (.text+0xd6a): undefined reference to `uncompress' /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.4/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: warning: creating a DT_TEXTREL in object. collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[2]: *** [lib/ktmediaplayerplugin.so] Error 1 make[1]: *** [plugins/mediaplayer/CMakeFiles/ktmediaplayerplugin.dir/all] Error 2 Same applies to app-cdr/k3b-1.69.0_alpha4 Everything else good.
(In reply to comment #2) > net-p2p/ktorrent cannot be build if taglib is installed with USE="static-libs", Ok, i see that "static-libs" useflag has been removed. Now this is good to go x86

The flag was dropped because it was completely broken (it built one library as static, another shared, and then tried to link them together on amd64 -> Failed because of missing -fPIC). If someone opens a bug and requests static-libs, we can see about reintroducing it in later revisions..
