Unable to start hostapd using kernel 2.6.31.9 and ath5k kernel driver:
...

RATE[4] rate=240 flags=0x2
RATE[5] rate=360 flags=0x0
RATE[6] rate=480 flags=0x0
RATE[7] rate=540 flags=0x0
Passive scanning not supported
Mode: IEEE 802.11g  Channel: 13  Frequency: 2472 MHz
Flushing old station entries
Deauthenticate all stations
Using interface wlan0 with hwaddr 00:19:e0:xx:xx:xx and ssid 'test'
Could not set DTIM period for kernel driver
wlan0: Unable to setup interface.rmdir[ctrl_interface]: No such file or directory

Solution: downgrade to net-wireless/hostapd-0.6.9

The problem is fixed in 0.6.9 , or what is it you are saying?

If so, which version is broken?

net-wireless/hostapd-0.6.9 works perfectly.

Bug is present in newer version: net-wireless/hostapd-0.6.10.

Bug is fixed in net-wireless/hostapd-0.7.0.

Please provide ebuild for latest development branch of hostapd: 0.7.1.

Well, it's great that it is fixed in 0.7.x, but I also want it fixed in 0.6.x, since it is the stable version that I plan to get stabilized here, once every known bug is fixed.

0.7.1 will be added soon, be patient :-)
