you might be having acpi issues. Could you check if the kernel isn't saying anything about acpi in dmesg ?

Perhaps this link will be help full: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal-info/+bug/415023 A temporary solution could be to install xfce4-power-manager and run it instead of gnome's one.
I did that CapSel. With xfce4-power-manager, everything works, thanks.
Have you tried to update your BIOS if possible?
