I am sorry, I do not defend myself in English... I have the same problem that the announced in this thread: [Freenx-team] [Bug 409621] Re: The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error. During on a FreeNX server suring a session. (https://lists.launchpad.net/freenx-team/msg00381.html). The effect is that theming and icons of gnome display incorrectly. Patching libxklavier-4.0 seems to solve this problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open FreeNX session 2.Launch gnome-settings-daemon Actual Results: gnome-settings-daemon crash This bug has relation with bug 292656 (Gnome doesn`t show some menu icons, desktop icons and the GTK-Theme over an nx session). Patching libxklavier-4.0 solved the problem on my system. emerge --info Portage 2.2_rc48 (default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop, gcc-4.3.4, glibc-2.9_p20081201-r2, 2.6.30-gentoo-r5 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.30-gentoo-r5-x86_64-Intel-R-_Pentium-R-_D_CPU_3.40GHz-with-gentoo-1.12.13 Timestamp of tree: Sat, 14 Nov 2009 07:20:01 +0000 ccache version 2.4 [enabled] app-shells/bash: 4.0_p28 dev-java/java-config: 2.1.9-r1 dev-lang/python: 2.5.4-r3, 2.6.2-r1 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r8 dev-util/ccache: 2.4-r7 dev-util/cmake: 2.6.4-r3 sys-apps/baselayout: 1.12.13 sys-apps/sandbox: 2.2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.63-r1 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.2 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.1 sys-devel/libtool: 2.2.6a virtual/os-headers: 2.6.27-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=nocona -O2 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /opt/openfire/resources/security/ /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/php/apache2-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cgi-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cli-php5/ext-active/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/sandbox.d /etc/terminfo /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=nocona -O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="assume-digests ccache distlocks fixpackages news parallel-fetch preserve-libs protect-owned sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-logs unmerge-orphans userfetch" LANG="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_ALL="es_ES.UTF-8" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" LINGUAS="es en ca es_ES" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_CONFIGROOT="/" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/portage/local/layman/desktop-effects /usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X a52 aac acl acpi aiglx alsa amd64 avahi berkdb bluetooth branding bzip2 cairo cdr cli consolekit cracklib crypt css cups dbus dri dts dvd dvdr dvdread eds emboss encode esd evo fam fame ffmpeg firefox flac fortran gdbm gif gnome gnome-keyring gpm gstreamer gtk hal iconv imagemagick ipv6 isdnlog java javamail jpeg jpeg2k kde kerberos krb4 lame ldap libnotify lm_sensors logrotate lzo mad mikmod mjpeg mmx mng modules mp3 mp4 mpeg mudflap multilib mysql ncurses nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin nxclient ogg opengl openmp oracle oss pam pcre pdf perl png ppds pppd python qt3support qt4 quicktime rdesktop readline reflection samba sasl sdl seamonkey session spell spl sse sse2 ssl startup-notification svg sysfs tcpd theora threads thunar tiff truetype unicode usb v4l2 vhosts vorbis webkit x264 xcb xcomposite xine xml xorg xscreensaver xulrunner xv xvid zlib" ALSA_CARDS="ali5451 als4000 atiixp atiixp-modem bt87x ca0106 cmipci emu10k1x ens1370 ens1371 es1938 es1968 fm801 hda-intel intel8x0 intel8x0m maestro3 trident usb-audio via82xx via82xx-modem ymfpci" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic auth_digest authn_anon authn_dbd authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock dbd deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers ident imagemap include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation proxy proxy_ajp proxy_balancer proxy_connect proxy_http rewrite setenvif so speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse evdev" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" LINGUAS="es en ca es_ES" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="dummy vmware vesa intel" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, FFLAGS, INSTALL_MASK, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS

Patch looks good
Is there an upstream report or a repository where to get this patch ? It looks like an aggregation of different patches in different format and is certainly not suitable for the tree as is.
I have obtained the patch from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxklavier/+bug/409621 , have applied manually the changes that refer to my problem on the source code of libxklavier and, after seeing that it was working, have generated the published patch. I was not thinking that this patch was ending in the tree, do not be if it is a workaround, alone I was thinking of helping people which have the same problem until an official solution appears. Sorry, this is a Reverso traduction from spanish...
Is this with fixed in libxklavier-5.0? In portage now (package.masked for testing). I see reference to this issue in ChangeLog, but no verification it's working. See, http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=583709
No luck installing new version (desktop pc in office work running stable branch, updating gnome to unstable required?) but i have revised the source of new version and the patch is applied to upstream. Time to close this bug? Tanks!!
(In reply to comment #6) > No luck installing new version (desktop pc in office work running stable > branch, updating gnome to unstable required?) but i have revised the source of Yes, for sure it won't work with current stable marked gnome, it's way too new and breaks API > new version and the patch is applied to upstream. Time to close this bug? I think so, since it's fixed in 5.0, the fix will eventually be available in stable with normal stabilization process after 30+ days (30 days is a bit optimistic though)
