I am installing gentoo , emerge system and when iptables comes up i get this error: cc -Wall -Wunused -I/usr/src/linux/include -Iinclude/ -DNETFILTER_VERSION=\"1.2.6a\" -DIPT_LIB_DIR=\"/lib/iptables\" -c -o iptables.o iptables.c iptables.c:141: redefinition of ipt_get_target' /usr/include/linux/netfilter_ipv4/ip_tables.h:294: ipt_get_target' previously defined here make: *** [iptables.o] Error The error suggests me that this is an iptables bug
Jon, maybe a mistaken assign to you, but if you can sort this one, that would be cool
i retried to build iptables and this time it worked. maybe it just does not build with the default kernel before compiling your own one
I was thinking it would be the kernel, too. Thanks for the update! If this happens again, it's almost certainly a kernel problem. ;-)
think we can find a quick little explanation of how to fix it ?

I'm confused. Does this mean it IS a kernel issue? And if so, would a custom kernel resolve it?
