whois (4.7.32) unstable; urgency=medium * Added new ASN allocations. * Updated the .tel, .gg and .je TLD servers. -- Marco d'Itri <md@linux.it> Mon, 16 Mar 2009 18:08:04 +0100 As I tested not-yet-in-portage 4.7.34 version (see bug #275209), it produces appropriate answer now (with overlong TEL. legal disclaimer). net-misc/whois-4.7.33 is already in the portage---try it.
will other whois inherit of theese improovements, or do we also need to bug report each of them ? dev-perl/Net-XWhois net-misc/bsdwhois net-misc/bwwhois net-misc/gwhois net-misc/jwhois net-misc/whoischk and maybe other ones ... I am keywording =net-misc/whois-4.7.34 to test it ... and i am satisfied.
I guess independent whois clients do not share TLD whois server list. As far as I know, there is no such official list. The only one more or less complete can be extracted from IANA's TLD registry <http://www.iana.org/domains/root/db/>. So, it's client maintainers responsibility to manage server list up-to-date.
