When using gst-inspect it appears to be registered correctly, however the configure script attempts to run: `gst-inspect-0.10 gconfaudiosink` ./configure supresses the error output which is as follows: process 31315: D-Bus library appears to be incorrectly set up; failed to read machine uuid: Failed to open "/var/lib/dbus/machine-id": No such file or directory See the manual page for dbus-uuidgen to correct this issue. D-Bus not built with -rdynamic so unable to print a backtrace Aborted (core dumped) To fix the issue, you can simply call `dbus-uuidgen --ensure`. `gst-inspect-0.10 gconfaudiosink` will then operate correctly, and totem will build. It seems to me it may be ideal to call this during the installation process of dbus. It does not change the machine-id if the file /var/lib/dbus/machine-id already exists. I think this only effected me because I was compiling GNOME from a chroot and had not booted my Gentoo system yet. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Never start dbus. If you have started dbus before, stop it and then `rm /var/lib/dbus/machine-id` (or move the file to another location). 2. emerge totem Actual Results: The totem configure script fails to find gconfaudiosink in media-plugins/gst-plugins-gconf.
