Please attach unified diffs (diff -u) when you did changes to an ebuild. That would be much more handy for our devs.

IMO it should be bumped to EAPI=2 to get rid of the built_with_use cruft.

New ebuild is already in rbu's overlay. It's using EAPI2 for a while now. It should be pushed to the tree within days (I need to finish modemmanager patch).

NM 0.7.1 with all VPN plugins and nm-applet landed yesterday in rbu's overlay.

I also added networkmanger-applet (kde4 applet) for kde4.2 to kde overlay.
Today I should also finish knetworkmanager-0.7 (kde3)

despite spending over 8h porting ModemManager patches, I'm still no closer to finish this task.
That shouldn't hold nm-0.7.1. I will have a chat with Rob (rbu) to push it to the tree.

Will the 0.7.1 stuff remove the dependency on net-dialup/ppp? I do not even have a working modem on my machine... seems kind of silly to install it. :-)

It would be great if the plasma applet could be added to tree as well, it seems pretty silly to add the entire kde-overlay just for that.

Unfortunately it won't . It's hardcoded dependency (as networkmanager expects to handle all type of connections). We will work closely with upstream developers to make it optional.
