This is not really a bug, but it cost me an hour or so to find out what was going on. This is my enhancement request: Please add a warning to the xorg-server ebuild ("make sure to run revdep-rebuild"), like many other ebuilds do as well. Furthermore, please add a comment regarding this to the Xorg 1.5 Upgrade Guide. After upgrading to xorg-server 1.5, i was unable to restart xdm. There were a few non critical error messages in Xorg.0.log, but removing their respective causes did not help starting X11. (There are other bugs here that sound similar: no error message in Xorg.0.log, but no X11 at all.) The reason why X11 did not start finally turned out to be xdm having unresolved references to libXaw.so.8. Thus X11 started (which i didn't notice), tried to start xdm, failed and shut down again.
Let's see what x11-herd thinks about this.
@arch, Please stabilize xdm 1.1.8 which no longer has XPrint support. For some reason, it went MIA during the X stabilization battle. Thanks
sparc stable, looks just as ugly as the old version does ;)

alpha/arm/ia64/s390/sh/x86 stable
ppc stable
ppc64 stable
Stable for HPPA.
Error in amd64 When running two Xservers (:0 on vt7; :1 on vt8) a false mouse pointer (cursor) seems to lead the real one around. Also experienced a Hard lock-up when starting vmware. xdm started fine, and recovered with no problem. I do not think these issue are xdm related. In process of updating for Xorg-x11-1.5, but have not added any packages. Otherwise clean install, and STABLE on AMD64!!!
