I can't get a backtrace of openoffice-bin, right?
Comment 4 Lars Wendler (Polynomial-C) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-18 22:12:29 UTC
(In reply to comment #3)
> I can't get a backtrace of openoffice-bin, right?

Good question. I never used the -bin version and to be honest I confused openoffice-bin with openoffice.

Reassigning to openoffice herd, they should know what information they need from you.
Comment 5 Ben de Groot (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-21 08:24:58 UTC
Try the new 0.62.5 release of (gtk-engines-)qtcurve, which fixes several bugs.
Comment 6 thomas 2009-03-21 16:54:12 UTC
Same thing with 0.62.5. The KDE crashmanager shows this (limited) information:

0xb7f96424 in __kernel_vsyscall ()
#0  0xb7f96424 in __kernel_vsyscall ()
#1  0xb79c4456 in nanosleep () from /lib/libc.so.6
#2  0xb79c427b in sleep () from /lib/libc.so.6

Comment 7 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-27 22:47:55 UTC
Really nothing we (the openoffice-herd) can do about broken themes... You can try to report this upstream, but I'm not too sure you'll get a different answer...
Comment 8 Ben de Groot (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-27 23:07:07 UTC
(In reply to comment #7)
> Really nothing we (the openoffice-herd) can do about broken themes...

Ideally we'd like to find out what causes the problem, so that we can report that to QtCurve upstream.

Comment 9 thomas 2009-03-28 07:54:00 UTC
I already reported that upstream and they tested with OpenOffice official binary and it apparently does not crash.
Comment 10 toogle 2009-03-29 12:29:22 UTC
I can confirm that, my app-office/openoffice-bin-3.0.1 also crash with x11-themes/qtcurve-0.62.5 (KDE-3.5.10).
USE='kde' or USE='-kde' doesn't matter.

Saw same behavior (immediate crash when opening oowriter). Setting the env variable

OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome

allows the program to launch. I'm running

app-office/openoffice-bin-3.0.0
x11-themes/gtk-engines-qtcurve-0.62.8
x11-themes/qtcurve-0.62.7

Here's the backtrace when running oowriter without the variable set
