Description Stijn Tintel 2009-02-25 13:35:24 UTC
I am running a linux-2.6.28-gentoo-r2 on a PS3 system. Every time the system boots, the following error occurs:

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Gentoo ppc64 on PS3
2. Create kernel with "genkernel --menuconfig --splash=livecd-2007.0 all" and the config attached to this bug report
3. Configure the new kernel in /etc/kboot.conf: "gentoo='ps3da1:/boot/kernel-genkernel-ppc64-2.6.28-gentoo-r2 initrd=ps3da1:/boot/initramfs-genkernel-ppc64-2.6.28-gentoo-r2 root=/dev/ram0 real_root=/dev/ps3da1 init=/linuxrc video=ps3fb:mode:5'"
4. Reboot and check dmesg

Hello, thanks for reporting. Is this the first kernel that fails to run or you had similar issues with previous kernel versions?
Comment 3 Stijn Tintel 2009-02-25 22:39:52 UTC
Haven't seen this problem with the 2.6.23-ps3 kernel that comes with the installcd-ps3-minimal-20071212-r1.iso + stage4 tarball, nor with 2.6.27-gentoo-r7. Didn't try other kernels.

And the kernel doesn't really fail, the system is usable, but gives the scheduling while atomic message.
Comment 4 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-14 23:44:44 UTC
This is a bug in the kernel code. Please file an upstream bug at http://bugzilla.kernel.org against the gelic wireless driver. A good title would be "gelic get_wireless_stats implementation is not atomic", and including the trace should be enough to prove it :)

Please post the new bug URL here when done.
