Attach is console output when I try to emerge qjackctl.

that sounds like if qmake doesn't generate parallel make safe makefiles for the translation files. moreover i've never seen this before qt 4.5.0_rc1

Yes, I had the same error. When emerging with MAKEOPTS="-j1", everything works.

new qt-gui ebuild

Could you please try to use this ebuild to build qt-gui-4.5.0 and then try to re-emerge qjackctl . This ebuild should fix the translating issues.

When emerging the new media-sound/qjackctl-0.3.12:

lrelease error: Parse error at src/translations/qjackctl_fr.ts:3661:21: Premature end of document.

Please reopen.

This bug is very old, would you mind opening a new one? Remember to attach the full build log and also please check if it works with -j1.
