Version 4496 of the nVidia drivers leave artifacts and improperly render the lower right part of the screen when drawing with OpenGL. I have experienced this with both the original Unreal Tournament and UT 2003. glxgears seems to be OK, but I did not try maximizing the window or moving it to the lower right corner. I have since reverted to the 4363 drivers, which seem to work fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
so thats why that crap started showing up in UT :)
Yes, but they are also the first nvidia drivers that dont mess up my text terminals for me. (previous drivers set it to 165 Hz when it left X, and it was horridly distorted)
Actually, they do mess with terminals. I'm using bootsplash from gentoo-sources-r5. After launching X with 4496 drivers the colors on my console are completely broken. It seems as if the color depth was lowered to 16 colors or as if the palleted was somehow shifted. However, when I used fbgrab on this broken console, I got a png image with normal colors.
It works fine here. File a bug with nvidia, thanks.

closing, has to be fixed upstream, not a gentoo issue
