When I drag a file (or multiple files) from Konqueror to xine, it results in: - xine engine error- Input plugin failed to open mrl 'file://[path to my file]' The "More" button opens a box (xine log viewer), which tells a lot (unfortunately it can't be copied and pasted), but the last lines might be interresting: xine: found demuxer plugin: Elementary MPEG stream demux plugin xine: found input plugin: file input plugin xine: input plugin cannot open MRL [file://Path to my file] xine: found input plugin: gnome-vfs file input plugin as shipped with xine I remember, drag and drop worked some time ago, but I can't remember the siituation it stopped working. I re-emerged xine, but no change. When I open the file using the file open dialog in xine, everything works fine. /home/wolle $ emerge -vp xine-lib xine-ui These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! You may want to consult the xine folks on this. It sounds less like a gentoo error and more like a configuration error. I'm wondering if some kind of association got changed in your control center. It may have happened automatically when you updated a package.
You mean file association? I don't think, is has something to do with that. But I changed them now for some file types and added xine, just to test is. The result is: Now xine starts, when I click on a file in konqueror and shows the contents correctly. But having two windows open (one konqueror file manager, one xine), klicking on the same file in konqueror (which xine is able to display), dragging it with the mouse button still down to the xine window and release the mouse button (this procedure is called drag and drop) results in the same error message, described in my first post. Maybe this has something to do with my configuration. Maybe not. For me, it seems to be an error in xine, which is unable to handle the drag&drop. Other non qt applications handle it as desired, ie. galeon works fine with drag&drop. I'll report this bug to the xine folks.
I upgraded to media-libs/xine-lib-1_rc0-r2 and media-video/xine-ui-0.9.22 (~x86) and the error is gone. From my point of view, this bug may be closed.
fixed in latest xine versions
