When I try to update world, perl-5.8.0-r12 is blocked, preventing me from updating. This might be related to a problem with portage-2.0.48-r6... my first problem was that portage would crash when trying to update world. I checked for an update, and ended up downgrading. Both my machines had been running r6, and had to be downgraded to r5 before things worked properly. After resolving that problem, I ran into this: euripedes:~$ sudo emerge -u --deep world Calculating world dependencies ...done! !!! Error: the <dev-perl/ExtUtils-MakeMaker-6.05-r6 package conflicts with this package and both can't be installed on the same system together. euripedes:~$ sudo emerge -p -u --deep world These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating world dependencies ...done!
