Same here with a fresh sync done this morning. Previous ebuild had the proper file size; the new 177.82 ebuild doesn't seem to: sudo ebuild /usr/portage/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers/nvidia-drivers-177.82.ebuild fetch !!! This seems to just be the wrong value in the Manifest. I removed the line that corresponded to it, ran `ebuild nvidia-drivers-177.82.ebuild manifest` and installed it fine. It really should be about 19MB.
Created an attachment (id=174586) [details] New Manifest file for nvidia-drivers-177.82.ebuild Same problem for me! I had downloaded the file NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-177.82-pkg2.run from nvidia website, and tried to set the good permissions and owners, and finally moved to /usr/portage/distfiles but when I give emerge nvidia-drivers I got this error: >>> Emerging (1 of 1) x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-177.82 !!! Copy It to /usr/portage/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers/ BE CAREFUL, at first rsync It will be overwritten!!! Regards
Apparently vapier had a corrupt distfile which triggered the problem: http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/gentoo-x86/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers/Manifest?rev=1.136&view=log#rev1.136 I think we can handle this better by making the manifest generation code trigger a download if file size is smaller than the one currently recorded in the manifest.

The rsync mirrors stopped updating for a long time but it's fixed now. If your mirror still has the broken manifest then it should update shortly.

This is fixed in 2.1.6.1. (In reply to comment #10) > This is implemented in svn r12186. The code triggers a download whenever the existing file size differs from the size recorded in an existing manifest entry. If there really is a legitimate reason for the digest to change, `ebuild --force digest` can be used to avoid triggering this code (or else the old digests can be manually removed from the Manifest).
