I have notified upstream, hopefully this will just be a quickie addition to the
autoconf stuff to check for tcl 8.5 if no API breakage. Thanks!

From upstream: "I have the fix [autoconf detection of tcl version].  It will be
in 3.3.8p2, which (if all goes well) will be released this weekend."

From upstream: Automatic detection of the Tcl version is in tcl3270 3.3.8p2,
which was released yesterday [2008-12-14].

...ebuild updates will come out soon as I can put together some time to test.

I added net-misc/suite3270-3.3.8_p3.ebuild in bug 257683 which fixes the
Tcl-8.5 issue.

version 3.3.9 has been released on 2009-02-26

This should probably be closed as resolved upstream, though we may want to wait
for the new version to make it into portage (see bug 257683) to help avoid
duplicate bug reports.
