update-eix from eix-0.14.2 fails during update-eix:
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range'
  what():  basic_string::at

The exception is being thrown during the processing of media-gfx/exiv2-0.17.1.ebuild, in the function Version::set_iuse, which has been called with 'doc nls zlib xmp examples unicode (set -- de es fi fr pl ru sk; echo /#/linguas_})'.

The bug 238216 was "misused" to report two different reasons for the segfault.
This is the second one (comment #44 - comment #46).
