Description:   Opened: 2008-10-21 05:57 0000
New wireshark release, new security issues were fixed:
http://www.wireshark.org/security/wnpa-sec-2008-06.html

New version is in the tree, but I'm not sure if we should start stabilization
immediately.

Security team, please, advice. Looking at advisory seems that wireshark team
considers all crashes like vulnerabilities. Should we follow that? I have no
problems with stabilizing it immediately, btw.

------- Comment #1 From Tony Vroon 2008-10-21 12:14:58 0000 -------
As we know, the security team is rather busy at the present time. Let's leave
the GLSA vote to them, but get the stabilisation effort underway now. There are
4 individual DoS vulnerabilities described in the bug reports, and upstream
recognises them as security vulnerabilities.

Target KEYWORDS="alpha amd64 hppa ia64 ppc ppc64 sparc x86 ~x86-fbsd"
Arch teams, let's get this show on the road.

------- Comment #2 From Chad A. Simmons 2008-10-21 13:17:09 0000 -------
AMD64 Arch Tester Report

USE Flags: All tested except gcrypt ipv6 portaudio and profile

Seems OK to stabilize.
