When upgrading x11-base/xorg-server to 1.5.1 (also confirmed with 1.5.0) from 1.4.2, there is a regression in the support of the x11-drivers/xf86-video-sis-0.10.0 driver for a SiS 661/741/760 PCI/AGP card - the video card is still supported and X will still start under the correct resolution, but the screen flickers and the colors are distorted/low-depth (even at a specified Depth of 24 bits) and difficult to unusable. Downgrading xorg-server to version 1.4.2 and rebuilding the drivers fixes the problem. (The drivers were rebuilt against the 1.5.* versions of xorg-server as well, no change in the condition).

Sorry about not getting here earlier. Can you still reproduce the bug with an up-to-date system? If so, please open a bug in FreeDesktop's bugzilla and paste the url here. Thanks
(In reply to comment #2) > Sorry about not getting here earlier. Can you still reproduce the bug with an > up-to-date system? > > If so, please open a bug in FreeDesktop's bugzilla and paste the url here. > > Thanks > The problem has cleared up, IIRC since 1.5.3 or so, currently running 1.6.3 is without any problems, so whatever it was has obviously been sorted out upstream and this can probably just be closed. Thanks for the follow-up though, sorry I didn't note it resolved earlier!
reopening
Thanks for the follow up, we greatly appreciate it :) Closing with the proper resolution.
