Bugzilla Bug 233866

as the title says, every time I run revdep-rebuild, it says "broken
/usr/kde/3.5/lib32/libqtmcop.so.1.0.0 (requires libqt-mt.so.3)", and then
re-emerges app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-soundlibs.

As hinted in red letters, "Gentoo Bugzilla" is not the correct product to file
bugs regarding ebuilds. Please use "New -> Gentoo Linux -> Component: Ebuilds"
or New -> Gentoo Security for security issues in future.

Guess this is yours, amd64 team - or is it a Portage bug wrt. library
preserving feature, maybe!?

Indeed.  Maybe someone with the appropriate rights should add "... and
re-emerges app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-soundlibs" to the summary so that
clicking on "Bugs" in on
http://packages.gentoo.org/package/emul-linux-x86-soundlibs finds this bug.

A workaround is to add

        LD_LIBRARY_MASK="libqt-mt.so.3"
or
        SEARCH_DIRS_MASK="/usr/kde/3.5/lib32"

to /etc/make.conf.  But then there is still no 32-bit libqt-mt.so.3.  (Don't
know whether that's a problem.)

Please see bug 227279. It appears to me that the summary of that bug is
correct: "emul-linux-x86-soundlibs should depend on emul-linux-x86-qtlibs"

After emerging emul-linux-x86-qtlibs and then re-emerging
app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-soundlibs, then revdep-rebuild reports no problems
with /usr/kde/3.5/lib32/libqtmcop.so.1.0.0

So, I confirm the fix requested by bug 227279: "emul-linux-x86-soundlibs should
depend on emul-linux-x86-qtlibs"

I'd suggest only if the "qt3" USE flag is enabled.  Otherwise
libqtmcop.so.1.0.0 should be removed from the emul-linux-x86-soundlibs install.

Confirmed, emerge-ing emul-linux-x86-qtlibs fixes this bug for me, not needing
the suggested workaround any more.

So could someone add the dependency as suggested, please.

Tested the thusly patched ebuild with USE="-qt3" first and then with USE="qt3",
and revdep-rebuild showed no inconsistencies in either case.  Please consider
patched ebuild for inclusion in trunk.

The patch from Matt Whitlock worked fine for me on my amd64 machine with -qt3.
No revdep-rebuilding of the soundlibs all the time.

Bump.

I still have this problem on ~amd64 with -qt3 use flag. Reemerging
emul-linux-x86-qtlibs solves the problem.

I just encountered this bug so it is still not fixed.  I am running stable
amd64.   I do not have emul-linux-x86-qtlibs installed so I can't "fix" it by
re-emerging that package.  My USE flags:

Same here - running stable amd64. I synced yesterday (04-16-2009) (or the day
before, I don't remember exactly). I didn't have emul-linux-x86-qtlibs
installed at all either, even though I have the qt3 use flag. I went ahead and
emerged it, and that fixed the issue. My emerge --info:

Indeed this fix works on stable amd64 with USE = "qt3" ... still waiting for
this.  Bug should be easy to close for someone with permissions ;)  Good job

erm, why is that still not fixed? I understand that this bug will be fixed
anyway with the next release of emul-packages, but when will that be? Why keep
up such a (minor) inconvenience when there's a nice fix...

Can confirm that "emerge -1 emul-linux-x86-qtlibs" resolves the issue.

I am running amd64 stable, wih -qt3 USE flag.
"emerge -1 emul-linux-x86-qtlibs" solves this issue for me.

And after the next "emerge --depclean" You did it again. The package must be in
a purely "world". :-(
