Not only it's almost a 0-day bump,
but as far as I remember this package usually gets updated
within less than a week after release anyway.
Comment 3 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-13 22:04:07 UTC
Please do not file 0'day requests. When the maintainer doesn't react within a week, it's early enough to do so.
Comment 4 Kai Blaschke 2008-07-14 15:08:53 UTC
If you urgently need a 0-day bump (e.g. you need a bugfix in this release), create an overlay, copy the latest wine ebuild and files dir to the overlay, and just change the version number of the ebuild. Even if the required file isn't already on the gentoo mirrors, portage tries SourceForge as last resort, and will find the archive there.

At last, a big "thank you" to the maintainers, as most new Wine ebuilds find their way into the official tree in just under 2 days.

The current ebuild doesn't work with the 1.1.1 release, which I assume is why the request was posted.

Strange, it works for me.
Comment 9 Rafał Mużyło 2008-07-15 14:45:45 UTC
And it's vacation time, so non-priorities take a bit longer.
Comment 10 Daniel Santos 2008-07-15 20:33:17 UTC
bump please :)

Maybe its possible to take a look at
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203680

i don't know if this ebuild is in a propper quality, but if it improves the situation on amd64, it should be used for newer wine versions?

Assuming your assumption is correct, it can be worked around by enabling the xml use flag.
Comment 13 Rafał Mużyło 2008-07-21 13:12:01 UTC
BTW, on a semi-related note:
for quite awhile ChangeLog and DEVELOPERS-HINTS (mentioned in dodoc)
have been gone.
Comment 14 Nick Cunningham 2008-07-24 18:32:12 UTC
Just to confirm that renaming the current portage ebuild fails on my amd64 system, however enabling the xml use flag fixes this and allows a successful compile.
Comment 15 Pavel Procopiuc 2008-07-25 20:17:04 UTC
WINE 1.1.2 is already out: http://winehq.org/?announce=1.1.2
Comment 16 Michael 2008-07-26 12:58:06 UTC
I'd donate something for the maintainer who continues on wine. It's quite essential for me :P
Comment 17 Rafał Mużyło 2008-07-27 09:53:27 UTC
Old ebuild still works for 1.1.2, so use it or
be patient.

When posting that something doesn't work, please include real details or at least a link to another bug, forum posting, etc. with those details. The 1.1.0 ebuild worked fine for me on amd64 both with and without the xml USE flag.

There are a lot of fixes in 1.1.2 and I would really like to see it in the tree asap. If -xml isn't working now, perhaps the flag can be temporarily removed or auto-enabled for effected platforms and then re-added once the amd64 issues are corrected.

Up until version 1.1.0 (including) the wine package was updated very shortly after each upstream release, but versions 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 never made it.
I have no complaints and am very patient, I am just curious as to what happened - did the developer leave? is he away? was some big change made which is being worked on but takes time? All I'm asking for is some information, almost any response will make me happier :)
Comment 22 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2008-08-16 14:52:07 UTC
ive been gone for over a month and no one else cares to update wine

1.1.1/1.1.2 is in the tree
Comment 23 Rafał Mużyło 2008-08-16 21:09:09 UTC
I think, you've missed comment 13.
Comment 24 Michael 2008-08-17 15:02:16 UTC
SpanKY, I appreciate your work alot =3

I did try to make a propper ebuild once (of a completly different programm), and failed. I could not get myself enough into the whole topic as I also lack time badly.

The more I am greatful for people who use their time for such things. Thanks alot. As I announced on the IRC before, I would paypal 10 Bucks (hoping more with join) to the one that updated wine and gets it into the portage tree. Offer still available, if you want to give me your PP-Adress ^^

Greetings
michael
