Comment 5 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-10 13:31:43 UTC
ppc64, the old versions will be gone and you'll lose the stable keyword unless this is handled. portaudio v18 is leaving the building.
Comment 6 Brent Baude (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-10 13:53:44 UTC
It does not compile for ppc64 64UL.
powerpc64-unknown-linux-gnu-gcc -shared .libs/lirc_client.o -m -Wl,-soname -Wl,liblirc_client.so.0 -o .libs/liblirc_client.so.0.2.0
/usr/lib/gcc/powerpc64-unknown-linux-gnu/4.1.2/../../../../powerpc64-unknown-linux-gnu/bin/ld: unrecognised emulation mode: -Wl,-soname
Supported emulations: elf64ppc elf32ppclinux elf32ppc elf32ppcsim
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [liblirc_client.la] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/app-misc/lirc-0.8.3-r2/work/lirc-0.8.3/tools'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/app-misc/lirc-0.8.3-r2/work/lirc-0.8.3'
make: *** [all] Error 2

Perhaps we want to let it go and then USE it out where appropriate.
Comment 7 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-10 15:45:11 UTC
Uh.. Since the old versions won't compile against recent kernels, and now there is this portaudio blocking maybe it's time to use.mask lirc on ppc64 profile?

See, http://tinderbox.dev.gentoo.org/misc/rindex/app-misc/lirc

Or did you try the latest lirc, maybe it works?

Closing this one, as stabilisation for a newer version is handled in 253920
