Description Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2008-05-12 11:58:21 UTC
For some reason openbox checks (and possible uses) pangoxft (instead of the new coolness that is pangocairo).
But the ebuild doesn't check on USE=X on pango beforhand, so it will fail in configure.
So if pango has a USE=X, it should be enabled. But watch out, as before pango-1.20 it was unconditionally enabled, so if the USE flag doesn't exist on pango, it's fine without it. Only if it exists, it should be enabled for openbox to pass configure.
CCing compnerd, as he added the USE=X. I'm wondering how often pangoxft is used and checked for these days by packages - it might be a whole big set of packages that need adjusting?

checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for GLIB... yes
checking for PANGO... configure: error: Package requirements (pango >= 1.8.0 pangoxft >= 1.8.0) were not met:

No package 'pangoxft' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables PANGO_CFLAGS
and PANGO_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Comment 2 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2008-05-12 12:16:13 UTC
For reference, pango_xft_* symbols are actually used in libobrender (render/font.c and so on). Wish it would be backend agnostic, but yeah, so it is right now.
Comment 3 David Shakaryan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-10 12:13:04 UTC
Should be fixed. (3.4.7.2) Thanks for the boog, and sorry for the delay. Next time I slack, poke me. (or fix it)

Thanks again :)
Comment 4 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2008-07-17 11:57:57 UTC
Reopening, as it's not the best way to write this in the following way as done now:

        if has_version >=x11-libs/pango-1.20 && ! built_with_use x11-libs/pango X; then

It should be better this way:

        if ! built_with_use --missing true x11-libs/pango X; then

Comment 5 David Shakaryan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-17 12:04:14 UTC
Changed it in CVS. Thanks :)
