rc-status show smartd crashed ps -ef | grep smart root 2366 1 0 08:19 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/smartd -p /var/run/smartd.pid smartctl works as expected. Restarting smartd clears the crash but it reappears again. Reproducible: Always
you can try taking the following line out of the init script... --pidfile /var/run/smartd.pid \ from the start() section.. NOT the stop()
That fixed it
I can confirm it. It did the trick for me as well.
this was fixed at some point
