The ebuild says "http://www.netfilter.org/projects/conntrack/" but you get a 404 there. It *might* be obsoleted by conntrack-tools (http://www.netfilter.org/projects/conntrack-tools/index.html), but I'm not sure!
As mentioned in http://www.netfilter.org/news.html#2007-05-23 (quoting) 2007-May-23 conntrack-tools release The netfilter core team has released conntrack-tools-0.9.3 that contains the userspace daemon so-called conntrackd and a command line interface known as conntrack. Both tools let system administrators interact with the Netfilter Connection Tracking System from userspace, covering specific aspects of highly available firewall settings. Upgrade is recommended.
(In reply to comment #1) > As mentioned in http://www.netfilter.org/news.html#2007-05-23 > (quoting) > 2007-May-23 conntrack-tools release That's net-firewall/conntrack-tools, not net-firewall/conntrack. :) What is worse, SRC_URI is dead too. It would appear that net-firewall/conntrack is dead.
Yes, the two packages merged and net-firewall/conntrack should leave the tree: * May 19, 2007: Just started the merging process of conntrack and conntrackd into the package conntrack-tools. Going for removal on 19 April 2008.
Ok moving conntrack discussion from bug 213081 here. Jeroen, if current conntrack-tools release is development and conntrack were stable (I'm not sure here but we have it stable on x86 and sparc) so I think absent homepage is not enough reason to package mask conntrack. Is it broken anywhere? If not, please, unmask it untill conntrack-tools became stable on x86 and sparc.

Also I probably misread a version somewhere in the announcements - as far as I can tell, the original net-firewall/conntrack has long been deprecated in favour of net-firewall/conntrack-tools - the later includes both conntrack and conntrackd while the former used to be a sibling to a separate conntrackd package. Both packages got merged into one conntrack-tools package. and conntrack were > stable (I'm not sure here but we have it stable on x86 and sparc) so I think > absent homepage is not enough reason to package mask conntrack. As the URL for this bug report states: May 23, 2007: conntrack-tools 0.9.3 has been released, includes lots of changes and an improved version of the NACK protocol. Upgrade recommended. May 19, 2007: Just started the merging process of conntrack and conntrackd into the package conntrack-tools.
Let's keep this bug to perform last rites. For stabilization new request is filled (bug 214072).
FYI: conntrack-tools URL http://people.netfilter.org/pablo/conntrack-tools/ now redirects via 302 to http://conntrack-tools.netfilter.org/ !
It's due.
Removed.
