downgrading libsyncml to 0.4.5 allowed me to emerge this plugin correctly
Created attachment 143900 [details, diff] gcc-no-werror.patch Disabling -Werror is enough :-)
Thanks for the patch, if works flawlessly here. :)
so when is the ebuild in the main portage tree going to be updated with this patch?
This patch works for me too. Why isn't it in original tree?
*** Bug 217784 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
same problem on ~x86. This patch works for me too.
Created attachment 153831 [details] All in one file.
Created attachment 168666 [details, diff] patch for libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22 Another way is to patch libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22, but that'll break compilation against libsyncml-0.4.5 and will require at least libsyncml-0.4.6.
Hi! This bug is actual now. Ebuild patched (append-flags -Wno-error), but inherit flag-o-matic not set by default in portage tree => "append-flags -Wno-error" does not fix problem. Please, add inherit flag-o-matic to ebuild in main portage tree.
Please test 0.36. It built fine for me. So considering this fixed.
'emerge libopensync-plugin-syncml' wants to downgrade libsyncml. root@condor:/root(21)# emerge -pvuDN libopensync-plugin-syncml These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled !!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict: app-pda/libsyncml:0 ('installed', '/', 'app-pda/libsyncml-0.4.6-r1', 'nomerge') pulled in by ~app-pda/libsyncml-0.4.6[http,obex] required by ('installed', '/', 'app-pda/libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.36', 'nomerge') (and 1 more) ('ebuild', '/', 'app-pda/libsyncml-0.5.2', 'merge') pulled in by app-pda/libsyncml required by world Explanation: New USE for 'app-pda/libsyncml:0' are incorrectly set. In order to solve this, adjust USE to satisfy '~app- pda/libsyncml-0.4.6[http,obex]'. So I have to erase libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.36 again. Any idea for a solution?
(In reply to comment #12) > Please test 0.36. It built fine for me. So considering this fixed. > Using 0.36 is not a solution. Citing the release notes of opensync-0.36: "Yet another E.X.P.E.R.I.M.E.N.T.A.L. release of OpenSync. This release is intended for developers, testers and for packages. OpenSync 0.3x releases aren't intended to be stable. We don't recommend this release for productive use. We don't recommend this release to be packaged as part of a distribution. ..." So, btw, libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22 was removed from the main portage tree, but it should not. Instead, it should finally be fixed in the main tree, and until then, this bug is still a bug and ought to be reopened.
(In reply to comment #14) > > Using 0.36 is not a solution. Citing the release notes of opensync-0.36: > Is 0.2* any better? http://www.opensync.org/wiki/status "0.1x and 0.2x versions are not maintained anymore, its development has frozen and bugs are not fixed." Basically they don't seem to have anything that would be good for distribution use from distro point of view.
(In reply to comment #15) > Is 0.2* any better? To be honest: After I finally got 0.22 working, I did never feel the need to switch to another version "targeted for developers and testers" with fundamental API changes. > http://www.opensync.org/wiki/status > > "0.1x and 0.2x versions are not maintained anymore, its development has frozen > and bugs are not fixed." Basically they don't seem to have anything that would > be good for distribution use from distro point of view. Obviously, the situation is not perfect. But at least: "Releases 0.22 (and 0.2x svn branch) and before are considered stable and suitable for production."
