Description Phillip Killewald 2008-01-21 14:37:27 UTC
I have been attempting to compile kdelibs-4.0.0 on my system, and it fails at the same point with very little debug output.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. autounblock kde-base/kdelibs-4.0.0
2. emerge kde-libs

Actual Results:
<--- snip --->
[ 17%] Building C object kdecore/CMakeFiles/kdecore.dir/fakes.o
Linking CXX shared library ../lib/libkdecore.so

Comment 3 Phillip Killewald 2008-01-26 23:33:09 UTC
The error seems to be coming when linking libkjs.so. From the log:

After removing the -j3 option, the error is

<-- snip -->
[ 10%] Building CXX object kjs/CMakeFiles/kjs.dir/CommonIdentifiers.o
[ 10%] Building CXX object kjs/CMakeFiles/kjs.dir/semantic_checker.o

make[2]: *** [lib/libkjs.so.4.0.0] Error 1
make[1]: *** [kjs/CMakeFiles/kjs.dir/all] Error 2

Will upload the new build log for completeness.

hm. strange. I tried again, after a couple of hours and a world update and suddenly it goes through... works for me now.
Comment 8 Phillip Killewald 2008-01-31 03:02:54 UTC
Emerging without the "pcre" USE flag seems to fix this. Has something to do with trying to link libpcre as static instead of shared. Needs a patch or something. See http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156895
Comment 9 Bo Ørsted Andresen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-15 16:24:30 UTC
Can you reproduce this bug with kdelibs-4.0.1?
Comment 10 Ingmar Vanhassel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-15 16:32:44 UTC
Following the last comment on the upstream bug http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156895#c25 this is caused by local cruft in /lib
