Speakup is a screen review package for individuals who are blind, and who rely on speech to access a computer. Speakup is a screen reader for the text console only, and is a patch to the linux kernel. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
We do still have interested parties in this... It could very probably be added as an alternate kernel if it turns out to be obtrusive in general.
Ill look back into speakup, i had tried to add support 6+months ago.. the author would only supply me with some wierd src package that i spent days trying to make work or rpms of binary modules for rh kernels.
I've had a couple more requests for this, but as I'm not the maintainer for the kernels on the Livecd's there's not much I can do in that regard. Livewire have you had a chance to look at this again/yet?
We hear from dmwaters that the new 2.6 livecd with speakup on it works relatively well. Closing, if you need this reopened for any reason, feel free.
