Description Christian Aistleitner 2007-10-09 17:35:02 UTC
Printing works without any problems with <app-text/poppler-0.6
After upgrading to app-text/poppler-0.6 cups chokes on printing pdfs (typically printing a page containing only the two letters "IB" and an "PCL XL error" page).

net-print/cups-1.2.12 installs pdftops.pl from ${FILESDIR} to pdftops in cups' filter directory.
This filter internally calls poppler's pdftops command and among other things always passes a "-cfg" option to poppler's pdftops.
At least with app-text/poppler-0.6, poppler's pdftops command does not allow the -cfg option.

An easy remedy would be to modify line 107 of pdftops.pl of ${FILESDIR} as in the attached patch.

Reproducible: Always

ok, thanks, I fixed it. We need to stabilize this before poppler-0.6
Comment 3 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2007-10-22 20:10:07 UTC
x86 stable
Comment 4 Ferris McCormick (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-10-23 13:45:56 UTC
On sparc, net-print/cups-1.2.12-r1 works fine as an upgrade from net-print/cups-1.2.10-r1 as a driver for network PS printers (and yes, it can handle .pdf files). If this is sufficient validation, sparc is good. However, jmbsvicetto raised the question of testing with a local printer. If that is necessary, I cannot do that so someone else will have to.

Test system is running pdftops from poppler-0.6.1.
