Description Georg Grabler 2003-04-08 17:46:07 UTC
I got some Problems starting some QT / KDE Applications after upgrading to qt-3.1.2!

following error is displayed, for example from the program sim (0.8.1), and kopete
(0.8.1 too) displays a similar error (just an other thread id)

After downgrading to 3.1.0-r3, my applications work fine again... maybe a bug in
qt-3.1.2? may in the release of qt? or just on some compiler flags? i am compiling just
marching to pentium4, no use flags set in my make.conf

STi

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. upgrade to qt-3.1.2
2. start sim or kopete for example (both had problems)
Comment 1 Daniel Karlsson 2003-04-12 04:32:04 UTC
I get the same problem. It's quite annoying, actually.
I can neither play CD:s (kscd) nor IM (kopete) as they both crash on startup.
KMail also hanged several minutes ago but I don't know if thats related in any way.
How can qt-3.1.2 get marked as stable with these problems apparent?
The userbase for kopete and kscd can't be that small:-)

I could notice the same bug with kopete, but just if using the ICQ plugin, and not
always... kscd has this problem if you activate freedb, the bug seem to be in the
QSocket implementation (i think problem with timeout handling)
Comment 4 Richard Stevens 2003-04-12 06:24:24 UTC
Yep, that's true. Jabber and MSN work fine. I think the latest QT is either messed up or it behaves
differently for some apps.

Fixed in cvs, please emerge qt-3.1.2-r1 to get the fix, thanks for reporting. If it still
doesn't work, please reopen this bug
Comment 7 Dan Armak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-04-13 06:53:21 UTC
This shoudn't have been closed until one of you confirmed the fix...
So please emerge qt-3.1.2-r1 (now in ~ profiles) and tell us if the problems are gone.
Comment 8 Michele Balistreri (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-04-13 09:46:16 UTC
can someone of you confirm this fix the problems please? thanks
Comment 9 Richard Stevens 2003-04-13 10:43:52 UTC
Hi,

sorry, I just got home a couple of hours ago and started building the new QT right away. That also
took some time.

From what I can tell, the bug is gone. Sim works fine now and it crashed every single time before
and kopete seems ok, too. No crashes at all, it crashed most of the time before.

Thanks and sorry for letting you guys wait.
Comment 10 Michele Balistreri (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-04-13 10:55:29 UTC
good, thanks for reporting
Comment 11 Ralph De Witt 2003-04-13 17:40:02 UTC
I installed the latest QT 3.1.2-r1 as requested and tested this with Kpilot. This new QT release has corrected the problem I had with Kpilot crashing while trying to HotSync to the ToDO list. Again my thanks to the developers for a speedy fix. Problem is now resolved. Many Thanks Developers.
