Description Matthias Kuhn 2007-08-08 08:54:48 UTC
There is no script provided by the ebuild to start the NetworkManagerDispatcher, which comes in pretty handy, for example to start ntp-client or other connection-dependent tasks.

Reproducible: Always

I wrote (respectively copied and changed) an init-script to start up NetworkManagerDispatcher.
As I didn't figure out, how to create an attachment, have a look here http://gentoo-wiki.com/NetworkManager#Another_Solution .

Proposal for starter of ntp-client using dispatcher

This file should be put into:
/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/

This seems to make more sense as being built into the NetworkManager init script rather than being standalone. If the slightly increased memory usage is a concern, then it can always be made configurable.

In any case, having the dispatcher actually start would make NM-6* much more useful while 7.0 still appears to be far away.

Thanks for the report, I added the dispatcher script itself, the rest of the legwork however (scripts to run) has to be done by the user. Thanks for the script. Please test and let me know how well it works for you.
