Description Wulf Krueger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-08-04 13:59:54 UTC
Please stabilise dev-libs/expat-2.0.1. It's not been in for 30 days but it has some important bugfixes over 2.0.0, it has no open bugs and the ebuild has only minor changes.

Gnome and KDE need it for their upcoming stabilisation (see blocked bugs for details and lists).

(Arches will be cc'ed once the blocked bugs and their deps are ready.)
Comment 1 Wulf Krueger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-08-05 11:30:25 UTC
Arches, please go for it!

You should commit the stabilisation as much as possible at the same time as the stabilisations in bug 176297 bug (KDE 3.5.7), bug 187730 (expat-2.0.1), bug 187731 (curl-7.6.14 and pycurl) and bug 185823 (GNOME-2.18), bug 178690 (aspell and its dicts) for maximum user convenience, because the expat and curl new versions break ABI and many GNOME and KDE packages - by doing it at the same time the user doesn't need to recompile so much, as he/she can do the upgrade and recompile at the same time then.

mips stable.
Comment 3 Matthias Langer 2007-08-07 12:43:07 UTC
on x86:

after fixing the b0rkage that was caused by the upgrade (i did this bug together with bug 185823 and had to rebuild a few packages manually before even revdep-rebuild worked)

dev-libs/expat-2.0.1

seems to do its job quite fine.

Comment 11 Nico Baggus 2007-08-24 21:30:44 UTC
The neon, apr, apr-utils, subversion, rpm, sablotron, dbus-glib packages also need a rebuild after this update.
revdep-rebuild does help...., but it is updated in the bulk of updates for KDE
and as such breaks a lot of tools needed during this build..., maybe a -rX bump of the various packages can help?
Maybe even more packages, but these are the one's I bumped into...
Comment 12 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-08-25 05:54:22 UTC
Depending on how you built your system (LDFLAGS, useflags, ...) there could be hundreds of packages to revbump _just_ to force a rebuild. Insane.

Revdep isn't the best thing since sliced bread but it does its job.

Since there is currently no sparc-fbsd or x86-fbsd keywords, we can close this.
