After installing resolvconf-gentoo man resolvconf states that /etc/resolv.conf should point to /etc/resolvconf/run/resolvconf/resolv.conf. The libc script in /etc/resolvconf/update.d/ checks if the link points to resolvconf/run/resolv.conf. I checked versions 1.2 and 1.3, the script and the man page disagree in both versions.
