Description Arne Babenhauserheide 2007-06-04 07:06:07 UTC
Hi,

I'm regularly using testing packages on amd64, and I'd often like to contribute by giving feedback which package worked for me with which USE-flags, but I simply lack the time.

What I'd love to see is a mechanism where portage checks after each emerge, if it successfully installed testing packages and ask me if I want to send an autogenerated report which contains the libs I compiled against and the useflags I used for that package.

If that function could be complemented by a server-side script which checks these reports and compares them with all possible combinations of libs (and lib-versions) and USE-flags for that ebuild, the process of stabilizing an ebuild could become faster, and it would be easier for people with little free time to contribute (and might get them interested in contributing more on the long run, because they are already integrated in a small but noticeable way).

Aside from this idea, I just want to say my deepest thanks to all of you who made gentoo possible. Needs to be said now and again, c'cause Gentoo is just great!

Reproducible: Always
