What version of compiz are you using, are you using compiz from git?
Comment 3 Philip Withnall 2007-05-27 13:32:29 UTC
I'm just using the normal Compiz (0.5.0) from Portage (no overlays).

It doesn't like the API changes in compiz-0.5. If you add '>=x11-wm/compiz' to /etc/portage/package.mask and re-emerge compiz (0.3.6), compiz-extra-0.3.6.0 will build fine.

Oops, I meant add '>=x11-wm/compiz-0.5' to /etc/portage/package.mask

Yeah, that works fine.
Comment 10 Ian Abbott 2007-06-11 11:25:45 UTC
I noticed bug #177241, which is a request to bump compiz-extra to version 0.5.0.2. That version will work with compiz-0.5.
Comment 11 Thomas Capricelli 2007-06-21 13:35:16 UTC
shouldn't the
>=x11-wm/compiz-0.5
be somewhere in the ebuild for compiz-extra-0.3.6.0 ??

i have the same problem here on amd64 using only official portage tree.
Comment 12 Paulo J. Matos 2007-06-22 11:05:29 UTC
Same here... on ~amd64
Comment 13 Santiago M. Mola (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-09-07 11:26:30 UTC
It seems that compiz-extra bump is needed ASAP. I had the same error with compiz-extra-0.3.6.0 and compiz-0.5.2, both latest versions in the tree.
Comment 14 Anton 2007-10-07 22:27:27 UTC
I tried to add '>=x11-wm/compiz-0.5' to /etc/portage/package.mask
but i still have save errors. In compiz 0.5 and in compiz 0.5.2
Comment 15 Till Heikamp 2007-10-10 11:14:44 UTC
it does not compile for me with compiz 0.5 / 0.52 installed either
Comment 16 Nikos Balkanas 2007-10-10 12:34:57 UTC
For me it worked fine
Comment 17 Hanno Böck gentoo-dev 2007-10-23 23:31:48 UTC
compiz-extra is replaced by the various parts of compiz-fusion. -extra will automatically update to compiz-fusion-plugins-main.
