Description onip 2007-02-23 15:21:34 UTC
gparted installs a hal policy preventing removable memory sticks to be mounted.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Insert my usb pen

Actual Results:
It won't get mounted. Trying from commandline I get this

onip @ Hal9000 ~ $ gnome-mount -t -v -d /dev/sda1
gnome-mount 0.4
** (gnome-mount:9833): DEBUG: Mounting /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_6BC5D18D756D0C37
** (gnome-mount:9833): DEBUG: Mounting /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_6BC5D18D756D0C37 with mount_point='Onip', fstype='', num_options=2
** (gnome-mount:9833): DEBUG: option='nonempty'
** (gnome-mount:9833): DEBUG: option='uid=1000'

** (gnome-mount:9833): WARNING **: Mount failed for /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_6BC5D18D756D0C37
org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.PermissionDenied : Device has volume.ignore set to TRUE. Refusing to mount.

Expected Results:
automount the pen ;-)

I found in forums ( http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-3736353.html#3736353 ) that this failure was due to a cruft file left in my system from gparted ( I think, I installed and then removed it 2 days ago ). This file is

/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/gparted-disable-automount.fdi

After I moved it away automount began working correctly again.

p.s. I installed gparted-0.3.1 (x86)

I just verified that neither 0.3.1 nor 0.3.3 installes any files in that directory tree; neither of them, as far as I can tell result in any hal policy being installed at all. Do you have overlays? Could you post emerge --info?

I expect this to be fixed with the stablization of 0.3.3, as I dont' see these files there and they would get removed with the update
