When trying to emerge world, I'm recieving the following message: emerge -N world These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order: Calculating world dependencies - !!! Multiple versions within a single package slot have been !!! pulled into the dependency graph: ('ebuild', '/', 'media-libs/gd-2.0.33', 'nomerge') pulled in by ('ebuild', '/', 'media-gfx/graphviz-2.8-r2', 'nomerge') ('ebuild', '/', 'media-libs/gd-2.0.34', 'merge') pulled in by ('ebuild', '/', 'media-gfx/graphviz-2.8-r2', 'nomerge') It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can not be installed simultaneously. For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook. !!! Depgraph creation failed. I believe this message is being caused by the fact that the graphviz ebuild has media-libs/gd in both RDEPEND and DEPEND (twice, because it includes RDEPEND). The RDEPEND definition is "media-libs/gd" which tries to install the latest version, while the DEPEND line requires "<media-libs/gd-2.0.34" which tries to install 2.0.33. The solution I've used is to package.mask media-libs/gd-2.0.34, but I feel this is a bug in the ebuild. I suspect the fix is to remove the live from DEPEND and modify the RDEPEND line to "<media-libs/gd-2.0.34".

Seems to be related to bug #165460
vapier, this has been your commit which broke it, so clean up after yourself please. http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/gentoo-x86/media-gfx/graphviz/graphviz-2.8-r1.ebuild?r1=1.6&r2=1.7 http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/gentoo-x86/media-gfx/graphviz/graphviz-2.8-r2.ebuild?r1=1.13&r2=1.14
Sweet Jesus Fuc#ing Christ dudes, someone fix this crap already. We've all been sitting here with jacked-up systems over the most trivial bug in Gentoo history, and no one seems to give a crap. Is Gentoo really stagnating this badly?
maybe if you complained with caps someone might hear you
I prefer not to raise my voice yet. Another week or two with this busted system, and all bets are off.

Sigh... vapier, he's an idea, don't touch stuff that you refuse to fix after you've broken it.
i've got a better idea, why dont you stop trying to help so much when clearly you end up doing quite the opposite most of the time
(In reply to comment #9) > i've got a better idea, why dont you stop trying to help so much when clearly > you end up doing quite the opposite most of the time The whole thing was pretty much fine until you've touched the deps; at least it didn't have screwed depgraph. So just undo it finally?

seriously, i'm not kidding ... stop "helping"
Please don't CC qa@ everytime there is a little tiny bug about something in the tree. Mike F. does a great work and he normally fixes his mistakes. So please, stop "helping" in those cases.
s/everytime.*/d; yeah you're right, CCing *current* QA *anywhere* is damn useless. Sorry to have bothered you w/ pointless deptree breakage that's been lasting for just two weeks now, won't happen again.
Thank you.
