Description ml 2007-02-09 14:53:31 UTC
As the portage system doesn't touch configuration files when uninstalling ebuilds, a lot of configuration files, init scripts and so on are left on the system.

Cleaning that manually causes a lot of work. So I want to suggest to copy such files into a backup directory with a virtual filesystem hierarchy. That way the system administrator can easily decide whether he wants to keep that backups or delete them instead of looking through the complete filesystem for leftovers.

Additionally portage could ask the user if he wants to use configuration files from the backup when reinstalling ebuilds.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Expected Results:
Clean system with no leftovers!
