Just added .desktop.in files to gtk and gtk-glade directories. Don't know how gentoo packaging works, but I guess you're relying on upstream build process, so it should be ok... if it isn't, I don't mind adding .desktop files too (the reason for .in files is too keep version numbers consistent).
That's perfectly fine, now just waiting for your next release.
