The init script sometimes starts but it doesn't stay alive. Process dies in a second. I noticed that the init script uses -iA to start the timidity server but actually that option or interface is not available in timidity. I tried launching timidity directly from the console and here is the result: # /usr/bin/timidity -iA -B2,8 -EFreverb=0 Interface `A' is not compiled in. Try timidity -h for help and without the -iA it only says: Try timidity -h for help So basically no daemon. The flags: X alsa -ao -arts -emacs -esd -flac gtk -jack motif -nas ncurses -oss -portaudio -slang -speex -tcltk vorbis I'm using eawpatches I'm also having troubles playing midi files with normal user. Root can play files fine with # timidity midi.file but the same command by the user gives: Probable source loop in configuration files timidity: Can't read any configuration file. Please check /usr/share/timidity/timidity.cfg The /etc/timidity.cfg file is still the original. Already run eselect a couple of times as this was an already mentioned and solved bug, but still doesn't work.
