I simply replaced the original

>=sys-devel/automake-1.7

With

=sys-devel/automake-1.7*

Otherwise it fails claiming "aclocal-1.7"

Nah, it just needs to handle autotools properly, there's been a patch attached to Bug 150957 for 3 months... :(
