But if I have virtual-x11 installed I get the error that originated this bug report. The ebuild as it is only works for someone that already has x11-apps/bdftopcf installed, for someone that doesn't have virtual-x11 or for someone that install x11-apps/bdftopcf by hand as I did. I got this exact same problem on 2 machines.
You shouldn't have that virtual installed at all. Unmerge it.

Any unported ebuild pulls that one in... See Bug 112675 for a list of broken ebuilds that are not ready for modular X.
